Urban design for health: inspiration for the use of urban design to promote physical activity and healthy diets in the WHO European Region

This report reflects on the ways in which urban space design plays a critical role in determininig the occurrence of non-communicable diseases. The paper initially highlights ways in which this occurs and then follows by raising tools and frameworks that encourage physical activity and healthy eating through urban design. In addition, the report provides inspirational examples where urban design that integrated health had impactful outcomes.
